Jealous Ex Threatens to Kill Former Lover — Jailed for 8½ Years
A jealous ex who terrorised his former partner in Crawley has been locked up for eight and a half years. Craig Wallace, 29, of Windham Road, Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to threatening to kill his ex after two years of harassment and abuse.
Court Bans Contact with Victim and Family
Sentenced at Hove Crown Court on April 9, Wallace also received a court Restraining Order banning him from contacting the victim or her family indefinitely. Although he denied stalking charges, these were left on file and not pursued.
From Love to Threats and Violence
Detective Constable Nigel Albuery from West Sussex Safeguarding Investigations said:
“Wallace met the victim in 2018 and initially, their relationship was happy. But his jealousy spiralled quickly. He became possessive, controlling her every move and distrusting everything she said or did.”
The violence escalated with several assaults. Wallace left after two years, claiming he met someone else and moved to Bournemouth – but the nightmare wasn’t over.
Threats to Burn House Down Land Wallace Behind Bars
Last summer, Wallace tried to reconcile. When she refused, he ramped up threats, bombarding her and her family with phone calls and texts, even threatening to burn down their house.
DC Albuery added:
“His relentless abuse culminated in his arrest in July 2020. With the victim’s courage and support, we gathered enough evidence to bring him to justice. It’s been a harrowing ordeal for the family.”
He stressed the force remains committed to supporting victims. “Anyone experiencing such abuse should get in touch confidentially for advice and help.”
