Knife-wielding man charged after drama outside Tooting station

Police called to knife alert

At around 6.45pm on Tuesday, April 25, officers rushed to Tooting Railway Station following reports of a man brandishing a knife.

Suspect charges at police

On arrival, the man – in his 50s – charged straight at the officers with the weapon. To bring him down, police fired a Taser.

Man arrested and treated

The suspect was quickly detained and arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon. The knife was seized as evidence.

Minor injuries, no one else hurt

The man suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment. Thankfully, no one else was harmed. He remains in custody at a south London police station as investigations continue.
