Brent Attacker Jailed for Over Three Years After Brutal Assault
A violent, unprovoked attack on a woman in Brent has landed 22-year-old Guliwali Stanekzay behind bars for more than three years. The Metropolitan Police launched a swift manhunt that ended with his capture.
Shocking Attack Caught on Doorbell Camera
On the evening of Sunday, February 26, the victim, a woman in her early 20s, was walking down Minet Avenue, NW10, talking on her phone. Suddenly, Stanekzay, cycling nearby, began chasing her for no apparent reason. When she tried to escape, he forcefully collided with her before relentlessly attacking her in a nearby front garden.
Doorbell camera footage shows the horrifying moment Stanekzay punched the terrified woman as she cried out for help. The homeowner intervened and let the victim inside, but Stanekzay angrily battered the door and even smashed a car parked nearby, causing thousands of pounds in damage.
Victim’s Relative Attacked and Injuries Treated
During the chaos, the woman called a relative for help. When the relative arrived, Stanekzay turned his fury on him, landing multiple punches to the face. Both victims needed hospital treatment, although their injuries were not life-threatening.
Manhunt Ends with Arrest and Jail Sentence
Stanekzay fled the scene but was tracked down thanks to CCTV footage and tips from the public. He was arrested on March 1 after a relentless police investigation. He was convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage, and breaching a suspended sentence.
Stanekzay was sentenced to two and a half years for the assault, with concurrent terms for criminal damage, plus a further 24 weeks for breaching his suspended sentence—totaling three years and one month behind bars.
“Stanekzay brutally attacked a lone woman in the street without any provocation,” said DC Jacob Eyres of the North West Command Unit. “The attack was shockingly violent, and one can only imagine the terror this prolonged assault caused.”
He urged victims of violence against women and girls to come forward and seek police support.
