Jealous Man Jailed for Brutal Strangulation Attack in Slough
Michal Wojdyla, 40, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison and slapped with a five-year restraining order after admitting to a vicious assault in Slough. The violent attack, investigated by Thames Valley Police, included intentional strangulation, actual bodily harm, and criminal damage.
Shocking Assault Caught Up at Reading Crown Court
Wojdyla, from Woodstock Close, Maidenhead, appeared at Reading Crown Court on Friday, January 12. He pleaded guilty back in November to charges over a terrifying attack on June 17, 2023. During the assault, Wojdyla launched eggs and cat litter at his victim, pulled her hair, punched her in the face, and strangled her. He also destroyed household items, threw a table at her, ripped her shirt, then fled the scene in her car after threatening to kill her.
Victim Left Injured and Traumatized
The victim, a woman in her late twenties, suffered injuries to her eye and ear as well as bruises on her neck and body. She needed immediate hospital treatment but was thankfully discharged soon after. The case triggered a swift police investigation, resulting in Wojdyla’s arrest on June 26 and his remand the following day.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery After Tough Case
“This was a violent and distressing incident of domestic violence caused by jealousy and control,” said PC Matthew Denty, the lead investigator. “I’m pleased Wojdyla has been sentenced. This sends a clear message that Thames Valley Police will not tolerate domestic violence at any level.
“I hope the victim, who showed incredible bravery throughout, finds some closure. Thanks also to the witnesses who supported the case with their statements, leading to a guilty plea.”
Wojdyla also faced a charge related to taking a vehicle without consent, which was left on file. The court’s firm action reflects an uncompromising stance on domestic abuse in the region.
