60-Year-Old Man to Face Court Over Crawley House Fire

A 60-year-old man is set to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court today following a deliberate house fire in Broadfield, Crawley.

Fire Breaks Out on Creasys Drive

The blaze erupted around 3:33 p.m. on Saturday, 14 September at a home on Creasys Drive. Firefighters from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, with help from Sussex Police, rushed to the scene. Thankfully, no people were harmed, but a dog sadly died in the fire.

Arrest Made, Multiple Charges Laid

Adrian West, 60, with no fixed address, has been charged with several serious offences, including:

  • Arson with intent to endanger life (14 September)
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (22 May)
  • Intentional strangulation (22 May)
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (between 1 January and 14 September)
  • Assault by beating (between 1 January and 14 September)
  • Criminal damage (13 September)

West remains in custody and will appear before the court later today.

Officers continue to patrol Broadfield to reassure the local community as investigations proceed. Police urge anyone with information—including mobile phone, dash cam, or CCTV footage—to come forward.
