Door-Bashing Thug Jailed for Demanding Cash at Knifepoint
Wayne Palmer, 41 and homeless, has been locked up for over two years after terrorising a woman in Folkestone. The brute forced his way into her home, demanding money—and the victim feared for her life.
Violent Visits and Intimidation
It started on Friday 30 November 2018, when Palmer showed up asking to speak with the woman. Once inside, he went from aggressive to downright scary. He grabbed her handbag and started rifling through it.
Fearing him, the victim and her friends handed over £20 just to make him leave. But Palmer wasn’t done.
The very next day, 1 December, he returned. He banged on her front door, shouting he’d kick it down if she didn’t let him in. Scared, she complied. Even after telling him she had no money, Palmer grabbed her wrist and shoved her against the wall.
Barricaded and Broken Doors
Palmer left after getting more cash but returned again on 10 December, shouting and banging at her windows. The terrified woman barricaded herself in a bedroom—only for Palmer to break in and continue his rampage.
He smashed the front door and forced his way inside. After giving him money, she called the cops.
Justice Served: Jail and Restraining Order
Palmer initially denied the charges but later pleaded guilty to burglary, assault, and criminal damage. On 20 May 2019 at Canterbury Crown Court, he was sentenced to two-and-a-half years behind bars.
“Palmer put his victim through a number of terrifying ordeals to fund his unhealthy lifestyle,” said PC Karl Shonhard. “She was brave to report him. Thankfully, he’s now off the streets.”
“He’s also slapped with a restraining order to keep him away from the victim for years. Break it, and he’ll be back inside.”
