A judge has slammed a man who savagely stabbed a British Army officer in a shocking daytime attack, warning he’s unlikely to ever see freedom again.
Life Sentence for Brutal Stabbing
At Maidstone Crown Court, 25-year-old Anthony Esan was slammed with a life sentence, forced to serve at least seven years and 162 days behind bars. On top of jail time, he was handed a hospital order, ensuring psychiatric treatment while imprisoned.
Daylight Attack on Army Officer
Esan admitted repeatedly stabbing Lieutenant Colonel Mark Teeton in Chatham’s Sally Port Gardens on 23 July 2024. The victim survived but suffered multiple stab wounds in the brazen assault through a quiet residential area—sending shockwaves through the community and raising serious concerns about public safety.
Judge Issues Grim Warning
“Esan showed no reaction during sentencing,” said Mr Justice Picken. “He is unlikely ever to be released into the community.”
The judge’s harsh words underline the brutal nature of the attack and the ongoing threat Esan poses to the public.
