A Manchester man has been jailed for 23 years after stabbing a man to death in Newton Heath last year.
Brutal Knife Attack on Gilmerton Drive
Martin Alan Davies, from Gilmerton Drive, launched a savage attack on 28-year-old Kailem Gibson on the evening of Friday 29 August 2025. Davies stabbed Kailem multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Emergency crews rushed to Gilmerton Drive around 7.25pm following reports of a stabbing. Kailem was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Swift Police Work Snaps Up Suspect
Police tracked down Davies moments later near Oakley Close, spotted acting suspiciously close to the attack site. He was initially arrested on suspicion of serious assault.
Tragically, Kailem died in hospital the next day, 30 August 2025. Davies was re-arrested and charged with murder as a full investigation unfolded.
Court Drama Ends with Manslaughter Conviction
After a tense two-week trial at Manchester Crown Court in February 2026, Davies was cleared of murder but found guilty of manslaughter.
On Monday 16 March 2026, he was sentenced to 19 years, with an extended licence period making it 23 years behind bars.
