Man Jailed for 10 Years Over Shocking Manchester Rape Attacks
A 27-year-old homeless man has been slammed with a decade behind bars for the brutal rape and sexual assaults of two women in Manchester. Mohyeddin-Ahmed Ibrahim, also known as 1 Jamal, was found guilty at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Horrific Attacks at Rochdale Road Birthday Bash
The first vile assault happened in June 2020 after a woman stayed over at a birthday party on Rochdale Road. She woke up to find Ibrahim sexually attacking her without consent. Despite her desperate attempts to stop him, he showed no mercy and continued the assault.
The victim didn’t report the nightmare immediately, but after confiding in her family, she was encouraged to go to the police.
Second Assault Leads to Swift Police Action
Just two months later at the same address, Ibrahim struck again. After interacting over social media, he visited the woman’s home with alcohol. She woke up disoriented with her clothes in disarray and caught Ibrahim on two occasions continuing his attacks.
After confiding in a friend, the victim discovered another woman had suffered the same horror. Together, they reported Ibrahim to the police on August 21, 2020.
Forensics and Arrest Seal Ibrahim’s Fate
Although time had erased forensic evidence from the first incident, the second survivor’s clothing and forensic exam at St Mary’s Referral Centre provided crucial proof. The Greater Manchester Police swiftly arrested Ibrahim the day the offences were reported, seizing his phone and clothing for evidence.
Detective Praises Victims’ Courage, Urges Others to Speak Out
“The bravery of these women was key to securing justice,” said Detective Sergeant Sam Owen of Greater Manchester Police. “While Ibrahim maintains his innocence, the court has rightly convicted him of these terrible crimes.”
“We hope this sentence helps survivors start to heal, and sends a loud message – we pursue every lead to protect victims of sexual violence.”
“Violence against women and girls remains a top priority. If you’ve suffered abuse, come forward. We are here to support you.”
