Manhunt Underway After Man Raped in Maidenhead Park
Police have launched a desperate manhunt after a man was raped in Grenfell Park, Maidenhead. The victim, a man in his twenties, was found in distress by a passerby at 3.33am on June 1.
Disturbing Attack Near Basketball Court
The victim told the Good Samaritan he was attacked near the park’s basketball court. Detective Chief Inspector Penny Mackenzie called it “an extremely serious offence” and confirmed a full investigation is underway.
Last Seen at Gordon’s Bar
DCI Mackenzie revealed the victim was last at Gordon’s Bar on Queen Street in Maidenhead the night before or in the early hours. There, he met a man before they left together and walked through Grenfell Park.
“The victim was raped near the basketball court,” said the detective. “After the attack, the offender may have stolen the victim’s phone.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The man the victim met in the bar may not be the attacker but could hold vital information. Police describe him as white, about 5ft 8ins, with short brown hair, possibly early twenties. He was wearing a T-shirt and Nike trainers and did not speak English, potentially Romanian.
Police urge anyone with information to come forward. You can speak to officers at the scene, call 101, or report via Thames Valley Police’s website quoting reference number 240 (1/6).
