Margate Robbers Nabbed and Jammed Behind Bars
Two street robbers terrorising Margate have been locked up for over a decade combined. Kieran Martin and Luke Tudor struck twice in March 2022, targeting a taxi driver and two men carrying shopping.
Shoppers Shoved and Bottles Stolen
On 17 March 2022, Martin, 30, and Tudor, 36, confronted two men on Addington Road. They demanded alcohol from their bags. When the men refused, the duo shoved them and grabbed the bottles. They then fled the scene.
Taxi Driver Assaulted, Car Vandalised
Later that day, the pair forced their way into an off-duty taxi driver’s car, despite being told no lifts were available. After driving to a pharmacy, they attacked the driver. He escaped inside the shop while Martin and Tudor vandalised his car and stole a pencil case containing his fares.
Justice Served at Canterbury Crown Court
Following a police probe, the crooks pleaded guilty to robbery and related charges. At Canterbury Crown Court on 17 January 2024, Martin, without a fixed address, got seven and a half years. Tudor, from Thanet Road, Margate, received two years and nine months.
“These two men put victims in fear of violence to steal and damaged a vehicle vital to its owner’s livelihood,” said DC Matthew Burridge of Kent Police. “I’m pleased they’ve been taken off Margate’s streets, and I hope the sentences reassure the victims justice has been done.”
