Kent Police Hunt Dashcam Footage in Julia’s Murder Probe

Detectives are on the lookout for dashcam footage from drivers in Aylesham caught between 20 and 27 April 2021. They want clips from Adisham Road, Dorman Avenue North, Cooting Road, and Spinney Lane as part of a serious murder investigation.

Julia, 53, Found Dead Near Ackholt Wood

Julia, aged 53, was discovered with fatal head injuries beside Ackholt Wood in Snowdown just before 4pm on 27 April 2021. She was walking her dog, Toby, when the attack happened.

Man Charged, but Police Still Need Your Help

A man from Aylesham has been charged with Julia’s murder and will face trial on 29 November 2021. Assistant Chief Constable Tom Richards urged the public to keep coming forward. He said:

“Whilst a man has been charged, we still have a responsibility to complete all relevant lines of enquiry and encourage people to come forward with further information, no matter how small, which could still assist in this case.”

Following a reconstruction of Julia’s last movements, police received new tips and are keen to see any dashcam footage from the area during that week.

Huge Community Effort Backing Police

So far, officers have sifted through 1,500 pieces of information and knocked on 2,000 doors. Specialist teams have carried out painstaking searches of fields and rural areas near where Julia was found.

ACC Richards praised the local community’s support:

“We are extremely grateful to those who have offered information, food, drink, and the use of the community centre. While it’s been tough, the patience and understanding of local residents have been a great source of strength.”

Though police patrols will gradually return to normal, Kent Police vow to stay accessible and supportive. Drop-in centres remain open for anyone needing help.
