Met Police Sergeant Axed Over Racist Rant in Pub

A Met police sergeant has been booted out after a misconduct hearing found him guilty of making racist remarks off duty.

Sgt Paul Robinson Caught Out

Paul Robinson, who worked in Met Detention, was overheard in a pub on 6 November 2019 spouting racially offensive comments during a chat with another man.

The remarks sparked a complaint, triggering a probe by the Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards.

Gross Misconduct Finds Him Guilty

After sifting through the evidence, the disciplinary panel ruled the comments amounted to gross misconduct. Robinson was dismissed without notice.

“There is no place for racism in the Metropolitan Police Service,” said Commander Sue Williams of Met Operations. “Our standards must be upheld by all officers and staff, on or off duty. With these matters proven, it is right that Sgt Robinson has been dismissed.”
