Chaos in Limehouse as dogs maul woman before owner is Tasered and arrested
Man chased along canal after vicious dog attack
Officers gave chase to a man holding two dogs on a short lead along a Limehouse canal. The dogs had just mauled a woman in a nearby park moments earlier.
Armed police step in, suspect arrested
Police described the dogs’ aggressive behaviour as a “significant threat.” Responding officers used a Taser to subdue the man, who was arrested on charges of assault and dangerously out-of-control dogs.
Dogs put down at the scene
No victims required hospital treatment, but both dogs were shot dead on the spot by police.
Investigation launched by Met Police
“This was not an easy decision,” a spokesperson said. “But officers have a duty to act to prevent further harm.” The case is now under review by the Met’s professional standards directorate.
