Metro Cop Admits GUILTY to Child Porn Charges
A Metropolitan Police officer has confessed to serious crimes involving child indecency images and resisting arrest. PC Adam Merriman, who patrolled Barnet, Brent, and Harrow, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 8.
Seven Charges, All Admitted
Merriman faced seven charges: three counts of making indecent images of children, three counts of distributing them, plus one count of resisting arrest. He pleaded guilty to all. Now he’s remanded in custody ahead of a Southwark Crown Court hearing, date not yet set.
Resigned and Under Fire
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards is leading the investigation. Merriman has quit the force amid the scandal. Chief Superintendent Sara Leach acknowledged the shock this news has caused locally and vowed to work closely with community groups to tackle concerns.
“The swift action of our officers to bring these charges shows how seriously we take this. Misconduct proceedings will continue without delay,” Leach said.
Not His First Brush With the Law
This isn’t Merriman’s first run-in with the law. He was cleared in 2017 of harassment and assault linked to a woman he knew, after a trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. However, a Met internal probe found there was a case for misconduct then.
This latest case underlines the Met’s drive to hold its officers to account and restore public trust.
