Cop Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault
Detective Constable Jose Poonsawat, from the Central South Command Unit, walked into Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday 12 July charged with sexual assault. The officer confessed to sexually touching a woman without her consent during an off-duty incident on 16 December 2022.
Under Investigation by Met’s Toughest Teams
The allegations sparked a thorough probe involving bromley/" title="Bromley" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Bromley officers and the Met’s Domestic Abuse and Sexual Offences unit, operating within the Directorate of Professional Standards. Following his guilty plea, Poonsawat was granted court bail and is set for sentencing on Friday 23 August.

“My thoughts are with the victim who has displayed courage in reporting this sexual assault,” said Commander Seb Adjei-Addoh, head of policing in Lambeth and Southwark.
“Officers are quite rightly held to account for wrongdoing by the courts.”
