Cheshire Pub Burglar Nabbed at Heathrow Just Before Takeoff

A burglary suspect linked to a break-in at a Cheshire pub was arrested at Heathrow Airport moments before boarding a plane, police have revealed.

Cash Stolen in Early Morning Raid

The Top House pub on Wharton Road in Winsford was targeted in the early hours of Sunday, September 8. The pub landlord reported the break-in around 11:30am, saying a large sum of cash was stolen at about 1:45am that day.

Suspect Tracked from Northwich to Heathrow

Cheshire Police tracked down a 37-year-old man from Northwich as their prime suspect. When he tried to catch a flight out of the country, officers swooped in. The Northwich Proactive Policing Team arrested him at Heathrow on Wednesday, September 11, on suspicion of burglary other than a dwelling.

Detective Constable Lara Hill said: “We treat all reports of burglary extremely seriously, and as this case shows, we will travel the length and breadth of the country to hold offenders to account.”

The suspect remains in police custody and is cooperating with ongoing inquiries.
