Crawley thug jailed for 32 weeks after assaulting police officers
Violent run-in with emergency services lands man in prison
Michael Sardes, 25, from Tilgate Way, Crawley, was handed a 32-week prison sentence on 26 July 2023. He was found guilty of multiple violent attacks on police officers between June 2022 and March 2023.
Spitting, biting and defiance during arrest
The situation blew up on 30 November when police were called to a disturbance at Sardes’ home. When officers moved to arrest him for breaching the peace, he turned aggressive—spitting at one cop and even biting another while at the custody centre.
Guilty plea and compensation ordered
At Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 1 December, Sardes pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, harassment, and criminal damage. Besides the prison term, he was ordered to pay £130 compensation to his victims.
Police take a firm stand
“Michael Sardes made the conscious decision to use violence against emergency workers, and now must face the consequences,” said Investigating Officer Tom Webb. “This sentence shows that attacks on police, paramedics and emergency staff will not be tolerated.”
