Gedling Police Crack Down on Dangerous Driving After Locals Speak Out

Hot-spot Patrols Target Reckless Drivers

Gedling police have taken swift action after residents flagged up concerns about dangerous driving, especially around Colwick Industrial Estate. Since early October, officers have stopped 30 vehicles, handed out 22 pieces of advice, issued five warnings, and seized four cars.

“We Will Not Tolerate Lawbreakers,” Says Inspector Stanley

Inspector Mark Stanley, Gedling’s District Commander, warned: “My teams are zeroing in on antisocial drivers causing distress. We understand the impact on our community and won’t hesitate to enforce the law. High-visibility patrols are ongoing to catch offenders and educate drivers about the serious consequences of their behaviour.”

New Policing Priorities Focus on Road Safety and Crime

Alongside tackling antisocial driving, Gedling police are cracking down on the ‘fatal four’ offences – speeding, drink driving, mobile phone use while driving, and not wearing seatbelts – plus illegal drug supply.

Inspector Stanley added: “We’re getting lots of reports about speeding and we’re keeping up our December drink-driving campaign. Plus, we’re targeting those behind drug supply by gathering intelligence, raiding premises, and pushing prosecutions. We also aim to divert those struggling with substance misuse to specialist support.”

Community Tips Essential to Keeping Gedling Safe

Stanley urged locals: “Keep contacting us about incidents and concerns so we can act fast. Report anything suspicious via Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 in an emergency.”
