Harrow Murder Shocker: Suspect Charged Over Fatal Stabbing

A 20-year-old man has been charged with murder following the tragic stabbing of Hamid Mani in Harrow. Shakur Idan, from Elmgrove Road, was charged on Sunday, August 13, and is due in Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court the next day.

Fatal Stabbing on Wellesley Road

The deadly attack happened on Wednesday, August 9, at around 7:13 pm on Wellesley Road. Police and London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene after reports of a stabbing.

Officers found two men with stab wounds. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, 20-year-old Hamid Mani died at the scene, leaving the local community and his family devastated. The Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command is supporting the family through this difficult time.

Second Suspect Also Arrested

A 19-year-old man was also treated for stab wounds at the scene. His injuries aren’t life-threatening, but he has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and will be taken into custody once discharged from hospital.

Shakur Idan himself was found near the scene with stab wounds. Although his injuries are minor, he was promptly arrested and charged as the prime suspect in the murder investigation.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

“We believe Hamid was involved in an altercation outside St George’s Shopping Centre shortly before the attack on Wellesley Road,” said Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Grogan, leading the probe. “We urge anyone with information to come forward.”

Superintendent Matt Cray promised increased patrols in north-west London and called on residents to share concerns or tips with officers. “We’re here to support the community during this challenging time,” he said.
