Train Murder Suspect Pleads Not Guilty at Old Bailey
Darren Pencille has pleaded NOT GUILTY to murder via video link from Belmarsh prison. The tense hearing took place today at London’s Old Bailey after his case was moved from Guildford Crown Court. His trial is set to kick off on June 24, 2019, and is expected to last about two weeks.
Knife Charge Connected to Train Incident
Pencille faces an additional charge of possession of an offensive weapon. This relates to a knife he carried on the train, not the one found on him during the early morning raid at Mitchell’s home in Farnham last month.
Partner in Crime? Chelsey Mitchell Denies Assisting
Also in the dock was Chelsey Mitchell from Farnham, who has been on conditional bail. She too pleaded not guilty to assisting an offender. Prosecutors say she drove Pencille from near the murder scene back to her home on Willbury Road.
She is accused of buying clippers and razors to help Pencille alter his appearance. Mitchell allegedly also scoured CCTV footage near the scene to help cover their tracks.
