Drug Dealers’ Rap Videos Land Them Behind Bars
Two young drug dealers caught on camera rapping about their crimes have been jailed. Caleb Umeniyora, 18, from East Ham, and Tristan Sotange, 18, from Plaistow, were locked up for two years and five months each after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.
Caught Red-Handed in Chatham Flat
The pair were busted at a flat on Boundary Road, Chatham, during a routine police check on 13 December 2017. Officers found the duo inside and quickly grew suspicious. A phone search uncovered jaw-dropping videos of them rapping about their drug dealing lives and preparing drugs for sale right in the flat.
Drugs and Evidence Found
- 43 wraps of heroin
- 35 wraps of crack cocaine
- Estimated street value between £780 and £1,560
Both were immediately charged and later sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on 26 April 2018.
Detective Slams Callous Dealers
“Both men were brazen enough to film themselves with the drugs as well as rapping about being drug dealers but ultimately these videos have brought about their downfall,” said Detective Constable Rob Hemsley. “Umeniyora and Sotange had no choice but to plead guilty due to the evidence officers had secured against them. They targeted a vulnerable resident in order to use their flat as a base from where they could do drug dealing and didn’t care about the impact this had on the victim.”
