Teenager Busted in Terrorism Crackdown
A 15-year-old boy from Northumberland has been charged with preparing an act of terrorism and membership of a proscribed organisation, police revealed on Wednesday, 26 February.
- Engaging in preparation for terrorism – breaching Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
- Membership of a proscribed organisation – breaching Section 11 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
The youth has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 27 February.
Arrest Tied to Intelligence-Led Operation
Counter Terrorism Policing North East (CTPNE) confirmed the teen was arrested on 20 February in a planned, intelligence-driven swoop.
A seven-day detention warrant was granted to allow thorough questioning, with law enforcement also searching a home in Northumberland linked to the investigation.

“This arrest was made to prevent any potential threat to public safety,” said CTPNE. “We continue to work closely with local agencies to keep the community safe.”
