Jewellery Heist Horror in Alton: Two Men Nabbed and Jailed
Two crooks have been locked up for a combined four years and nine months after a brazen jewellery robbery at TH Baker in Alton’s High Street.
Robbers Caught Red-Handed
Lee Benneyworth, 39, from Paulsgrove, Portsmouth, was handed two years and six months behind bars. His accomplice, 40-year-old Jamie Massiah, who has no fixed address, got two years and three months.
How the Raid Unfolded
The duo first strolled into the jewellers just after 3.30pm on Tuesday, February 8, pretending to browse Rolex watches. Moments later, they stormed back in, shouting and demanding staff fill a bag with jewellery.
- They smashed display cabinets.
- Snatched the shiny goods.
- Made a swift getaway.
Police Act Fast: Cars and Cash Lead to Arrests
Officers quickly zeroed in on a black Mini used in the crime. Later that day, they tracked down Benneyworth and Massiah in Havant. A stop and search revealed cash and tags ripped from the stolen jewellery.
The pair were arrested, charged with robbery, and pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing.
“This was a premeditated and brazen robbery,” said Detective Chelsea Adamson from Hampshire’s Northern Investigations Team. “It happened in broad daylight on a busy High Street and shocked the community.
“Our team moved fast to catch the culprits and bring them to justice. No one should face violence like this at work.”
