Four raids at Boots spark police probe
Kent Police launched an investigation after reports surfaced that between 24 August and 11 November 2023, beauty products and other goods were stolen four times from Boots the Chemist in The Pentagon shopping centre, Chatham.
Thefts stretch to Tesco and B&M
The crime spree didn’t stop there. During the same period, meat, cheese, and laundry items were stolen twice from Tesco on New Road, Gravesend. Additional laundry products were also pinched from B&M in Medway Street, Chatham. The total haul tipped over a hefty £1,400.
Suspect caught and locked up
On 11 November, Gabriella Tokorova, 24, from Cygnet Gardens, Northfleet, was arrested on Chatham High Street. She faced seven charges of theft and pleaded guilty at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 13 November. The court hit her with a swift 56-day prison sentence.
Police vow zero tolerance on retail crime
District Commander for Medway, Chief Inspector Trevor Jenner, said: “Our officers are determined to protect businesses from those criminals who commit multiple thefts believing they are unlikely to be detained. We work closely with shopkeepers and security staff and will strive to identify those responsible for retail crime and bring them to justice at the earliest opportunity.”
