Hampshire Police Probe Shocking Kidnap and Crash Chaos
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police are hunting suspects after a wild night involving a smash-up, injured pedestrians, and a possible kidnapping on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
High-Speed Crashes and Pedestrian Injuries
At 11:04pm, officers were called to a crash where a white Ford Focus had slammed into a building. Moments later, a black BMW 1 Series barreled into two pedestrians on Village Road – a man in his 50s and a 16-year-old girl. Both victims were rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fleeing Teens and a Kidnap in Progress
After the collisions, two teenage males sped off on foot from the Ford Focus toward Western Way. Around the same time, police received reports that a man was forcibly shoved into a white vehicle on Ferrol Road. The white car then sped off, chased by a black vehicle.
Three Arrested as Police Connect the Dots
Police say the incidents are linked and are digging deep into the mystery. Three men from Gosport have been arrested:
- A 26-year-old on suspicion of kidnap and careless/inconsiderate driving causing injury
- A 20-year-old on suspicion of conspiring to kidnap and causing injury by dangerous driving
- A 54-year-old on suspicion of conspiring to kidnap, causing injury by dangerous driving, and driving under the influence of drugs
Detective Inspector Hayley Church said: “We’re door-knocking and reviewing CCTV in the area. Anyone who was near Ferrol Road or Village Road between 10:15pm and 11:15pm who saw anything suspicious must get in touch.”
