Police Spot Suspicious Drug Deal

Officers on Bryant Street spotted what they believed was a drug deal between two men on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

One Dealer Flees, Other Caught with Drugs

When police moved in to stop the suspects on Luton Road, one man escaped. But the other was searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. He was found carrying around 100 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin hidden in his waistband.

Arrest and Charges

Mohamed Hussain, 21, with no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of drug offences. Officers also seized a large sum of cash and a cellphone.

Hussain now faces charges including heroin possession with intent to supply, crack cocaine possession with intent to supply, and acquiring criminal property.

Court Appearance and Custody

He appeared at West Kent Magistrates’ Court on August 11, 2022, and was remanded in custody. Hussain will next face Maidstone Crown Court for a hearing at a later date.
