A 30-year-old man has admitted viciously attacking two men with a hockey stick outside a Ramsbury pub – leaving one victim blind in one eye.
Violent Assault at The Bell
William Jeffcoat of Oxford Street, Aldbourne, pleaded guilty to two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent at Swindon Crown Court on October 13. The shocking attack happened last November in the car park of The Bell pub, Ramsbury.
Jeffcoat struck one victim over the head and repeatedly battered the other around the face with a hockey stick.
Lasting Damage and Horror
- One victim lost sight in one eye permanently
- The other suffers a 4.5cm scar across his forehead
After the hearing, Jeffcoat was granted conditional bail until sentencing on November 3.
Police React to Brutal Attack
“This was a violent and unprovoked assault on two men, who were repeatedly hit with full force,” said Detective Constable Clare Sylvester-Wyness from Swindon CID.
“They have been left with lasting injuries and scars from the attack, including one of them losing the sight in one of their eyes.”
“It is difficult to fully explain the lasting impact of this vicious assault, but I hope these guilty pleas allow them the opportunity to try to put this horrific incident behind them.”
