Homeless Thieves Nabbed After Daring London Spree
Two homeless men, Daniel Ramzi, 26, and Abderrahim Mamma, 29, have pleaded guilty to a string of thefts across London’s City. Caught red-handed, the pair launched a brazen crime spree targeting bags and gadgets on January 15 and 21.
Phones and Laptops Snatched in Broad Daylight
The duo’s spree began at a fast-food joint on Bishopsgate where they snatched a mobile phone straight from a coat pocket. But they didn’t stop there. CCTV footage caught them stealing laptops from bags at a venue on Gracechurch Street and again at a pub in Leadenhall Market—brazenly reaching over barriers, swiping goods, then sneakily swapping bags to cover their tracks.
Bling Bag Swap Scam at Pubs
On January 21, Ramzi and Mamma hit a pub on Old Broad Street. Ramzi pulled off a slick bag-swap, switching stolen bags for others in a quick con. They repeated the trick with another group before making their getaway.
Hard Justice: Jail and Bans Handed Down
- Abderrahim Mamma was locked up for 20 months and slapped with a five-year ban from London’s City. He also admitted to seven other thefts outside the City.
- Daniel Ramzi received 14 months behind bars.
“This is another great result in seeing two prolific bag thieves behind bars,” said Sergeant James Wood of the City of London Police. “We hope that these sentences will give reassurance to businesses and members of the public that we take such offences very seriously. Our warning to criminals; don’t come into the City to steal bags. We will bring those committing crimes in the City to justice and we will use all of our resources to help prevent and deter any further criminal activities.”
