Eastbourne Assault: Police Hunt Witnesses After Woman Hurt in Alleyway Attack
Eastbourne cops are on the lookout for witnesses after an 18-year-old woman suffered head and nose injuries in a shocking assault.
The Attack
The incident took place late Sunday night, January 15, in a dark alley off Lushington Lane. The victim came forward the next day, reporting the brutal attack to police.
Suspect Arrested But Released on Bail
Following a swift investigation, officers arrested a 19-year-old Eastbourne man. He faces charges including assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH), intentional strangulation, and possession of cannabis.
The suspect has since been released on strict bail conditions until April 16.
Police Want Witnesses to Step Forward
“We are keen to speak to anyone who saw the assault on Sunday night or who has CCTV footage,” said Crime Investigator Wendy Murray.
“We know a nearby woman helped the victim onto a bus after the attack, and two men also came to assist after hearing the commotion. We urge them to come forward to aid our enquiry.”
