Teen Shoots Victim in Face with Grandad’s Shotgun
Jacob Talbot-Lummis, just 15 at the time, was sentenced today at Ipswich Crown Court to 24 years in detention, plus an extra five years on licence. The Martlesham teen admitted possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear but denied other charges.
Cold-Blooded Attack on School Route
Talbot-Lummis lay in wait for an hour at Friend’s Walk before confronting his victim on the way to school. Using his grandfather’s double-barrelled shotgun, he shot the boy in the face. Witnesses say he stood over the victim calmly and even aimed the gun at a nearby man who looked out after hearing the blast.
High-Speed Police Chase Ends Arrest
After the shooting, Talbot-Lummis hopped into his dad’s car and drove off. Armed police tracked him down on Westwood Avenue less than a day later, finding the shotgun hidden in the back seat.
Victim Suffers Life-Changing Injuries
The victim’s injuries were life-threatening, with a stroke leaving him partly paralysed and brain damaged. He continues to undergo treatment for permanent damage.
Cold Claims and Court Rejection
Talbot-Lummis told police he meant only to scare the boy due to bullying and planned to fire near him in Rendlesham Forest. The court didn’t buy it. Investigators uncovered that the teen spent nearly a year plotting the attack and had bragged about wanting to shoot someone, though friends thought it fantasy.
