Deliberate Fire Rips Through Salisbury Flats – Residents Left Homeless

Blaze Strikes Tintern Court Stairwell

A fire, believed to be started on purpose, broke out in the stairwell of the Tintern Court flats on The Friary, Salisbury, at around 10pm last night (25/07).

Firefighters from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene and managed to put out the flames, which had spread to the first floor and damaged three flats.

Four Residents Evacuated, No Serious Injuries

Luckily, all residents were safely evacuated. Four people were brought to safety and three were treated for smoke inhalation. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.

However, several flats have been left unlivable due to fire and smoke damage, forcing some residents into temporary accommodation.

Police Hunt Arson Suspects – Appeal for Witnesses

“All signs point to this fire being started deliberately,” Detective Inspector Dean Garvin of CID said. “These flats housed elderly and vulnerable people. Their lives were put at risk. If not for the quick actions of fire crews, the consequences could have been terrible.”

“I urge whoever is responsible to come forward. We have detectives on the case and are determined to find out who did this. If anyone can help, please get in touch immediately.”

Police want to talk to three youths seen near the building shortly before the fire – two males and a female. One male was on a white bicycle.
