Rape Investigation Underway on Newquay’s Towan Beach

Police are probing a shocking rape reported in the early hours of Sunday, 12 March, at Towan Beach, Newquay.

Fishing Witness Sought by Cops

Authorities believe someone was fishing on the beach between 3am and 4am and urgently want to speak to this person to aid the investigation.

Victim and Suspect Details

  • The victim is a woman in her 30s, now receiving support from specialist officers.
  • A 38-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of rape but has since been released on bail.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Inspector Chris Donald, lead investigator, said: “We are keen to identify and speak to anyone who may have seen or heard something to help our enquiries. CCTV suggests someone was fishing on the beach that night, and we urge them to come forward. Anyone else in the area with information, please contact us.”
