Police Hunt Hit-and-Run Cyclist After Fatal Tower Hamlets Crash
Police have released a photo of a man they desperately want to speak to following a deadly collision in Tower Hamlets.
72-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies After Collision
The crash happened around 5.07pm on Friday, 3 July, on Bow Road near Thames Magistrates’ Court. A cyclist struck 72-year-old pedestrian Peter McCombie, who suffered serious head injuries.
He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but sadly died eight days later, on Saturday, 11 July.
Cyclist Flees Scene Leaving Bike Behind
The cyclist did not stop after the collision. Officers say he abandoned his bike and ran off. No arrests have been made so far.
Police Plead For Info To Nab Hit-and-Run Rider
Detective Inspector Julie Trodden said: “I am appealing to anyone who recognises this man or saw him leaving the scene to call police. From photos, we know he abandoned his cycle and ran off.”
“If anyone knows where the bike is, please tell us – it’s vital evidence. Any detail, even the street where you last saw him, could help.”
“Peter was active and working beyond retirement age. His family, friends and colleagues are devastated by this loss.”
“I also urge witnesses from the area at around 5pm on 3 July to come forward with any info or dash cam footage.”
“To the cyclist involved – please come forward. Help us bring answers to Peter’s grieving family.”
