Bednarczyk Locked Up for Terror-Related Offences
Filip Golon Bednarczyk, 26, from Luton, was sentenced to four years at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 24 November. He was convicted for making or possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances and holding documents likely to aid terrorism.

Police Praise Public Vigilance in Foiling Plot
Commander Richard Smith, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, declared: “I am very pleased with this sentence. Thanks to the vigilance of Counter Terrorism officers, we detected Bednarczyk’s illegal and dangerous activity and brought him to justice.”
“Every day the national counter terrorism police network is fighting terrorism. However, police also rely on information from the public and I urge everyone to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious at all to police whether they see it online or in the real world.”
How Bednarczyk Was Caught
Police swooped on Bednarczyk’s home in December 2019 after tracking his purchases of suspect materials online. Officers uncovered detailed instructions for making gunpowder and C4 plastic explosives, along with ingredients for bomb-making.
Despite the alarming find, investigators confirmed there was no imminent threat or direct terrorist activity.
Bednarczyk pleaded guilty to all eight offences in May and was held in custody pending sentencing.
