Serious crash in Southampton as cyclist hit by lorry
Hampshire Police have shut down a busy part of East Park Terrace in central Southampton this afternoon following a serious collision between a cyclist and a lorry.
Road closures causing rush hour chaos
The stretch between New Road and the Jury’s Inn roundabout is closed both ways. New Road is also shut off for outbound traffic between Above Bar Street and East Park Terrace. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
Cyclist rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries
The cyclist involved has been taken to Southampton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police are currently investigating the incident.
Delays expected through rush hour
Officers warn the road closures could last well into rush hour and thank the public for their patience while they manage the scene.
