Drink driver caught after crash thanks to police dog Kit
A suspected drink driver who fled the scene of a crash in Swale was tracked down and arrested thanks to the exceptional work of Police Dog Kit.
Crash sparks manhunt on Playstool Road
Kent Police were called at 7.22pm on Sunday, 4 May 2025, after a collision involving a motorbike and two cars on Playstool Road in Newington. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
However, the man believed to have been riding the motorbike ran from the scene on foot. An off-duty officer nearby gave chase immediately.
Police Dog Kit leads the way
Police Dog Kit and his handler quickly picked up the suspect’s trail and tracked him down to a nearby location where he was detained. During a search, cannabis and drug-related items were discovered.
Man arrested on multiple charges
The man was arrested for:
- Possession of cannabis
- Failing to stop at the scene
- Drink driving
- Other driving offences
He has since been bailed while enquiries continue.
