Nottingham drug den shut down after police swoop
Crime hotspot sealed off
The notorious property on Phoenix Close, The Meadows, Nottingham, has finally been closed. It had turned into a magnet for drug users and a hub for criminal chaos.
Police take tough action
On Thursday 13 April, officers from The Meadows Neighbourhood Policing Team and City South Operation Reacher moved in. They evicted the tenant and boarded up the house after securing a closure order from Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.
The order makes it a criminal offence for anyone to enter or remain on the premises — except emergency services, the landlord, or authorised reps. Anyone caught breaching this could face fines or jail.
Relief for worried neighbours
Police Constable Adam Smith said: “This property had become a focus for drug-related criminality and antisocial behaviour. Neighbouring residents were left living in fear, and I am delighted that we have now been able to take such decisive action to protect them.”
He added: “The closure order will provide respite to the local community from the continual anti-social, nuisance and criminal behaviour that has occurred inside and outside of the address.”
Hope for safer streets ahead
Officers are confident the closure will lead to a sharp drop in crime and antisocial behaviour around Phoenix Close.
PC Smith said: “I hope this action reassures residents that we will listen to their concerns and take appropriate and proportionate action to deal with individuals who cause harm in the area.”
He also praised his team: “I would like to thank all the officers involved for their tenacity in dealing with the issue over a lengthy period, which has culminated in the address being closed.”
