Locked Down and Locked Out: Police Break Up Huge Illegal Party in Grove Park Flat
Party Panic at 3am
Just after 3am on Thursday, 5 November, police swooped on a Grove Park flat on Ballamore Road, BR1. Around 30 partygoers were spotted milling outside the block, but when officers asked what was going on, everyone claimed ignorance.
Secrets Behind Closed Doors
About 20 people were seen fleeing the flat as officers tried to get inside. The crowd refused to reveal any details. After several attempts, police identified the event organiser and ordered everyone to clear out — another 20 people left the scene.
The flat’s 43-year-old resident denied hosting the party and gave multiple fake names when asked for ID. Her game ended when she was arrested for breaking Coronavirus Health Protection rules and possession of a Class B drug.
Fines, Investigations, and a Stark Warning
The woman has been released under investigation and faces a possible £10,000 fine for flouting Covid regulations. Sergeant David Walmsley of the South East Basic Command Unit said:
“Large gatherings in your own home are still unlawful and will not be tolerated. Officers will continue to enforce the Coronavirus regulations where necessary to help keep people safe. This was a totally egregious breach of the rules which meant officers had no choice but to issue a large fine. Events such as this are dangerous, there can be no excuse for this sort of reckless behaviour. We are still in national lockdown and the public should continue to abide by the regulations which have been put in place to save lives.”
With lockdown still biting, the message is clear: lawbreakers risk fines and arrests. Illegal parties? Not on watch.
