Woman Jailed for 24 Years After Throwing Bombs at Police in Fake Domestic Abuse Call
Fake 999 Call Ends in Bomb Attack
Christine Connor, 35, has been slammed with a 24-year prison sentence at Laganside Crown Court. She was handed 20 years for attempted murder, plus four extra years after being branded dangerous by the judge.
The shocking attack happened on 28 May 2013 when Connor placed a ‘999’ call claiming her boyfriend was smashing up the house. But it was a trap.
Officers Targeted with Explosive Devices
Detective Superintendent Richard Campbell of the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch told the court: “Police responded to a very distressed woman’s call reporting a domestic dispute. When officers arrived, two improvised explosive devices were hurled at them.”
“Thankfully, no officers were seriously injured, but they were left traumatised by this horrific attack.”
A Callous Bid to Kill on Duty Police
Campbell added: “Connor deliberately exploited a deeply serious issue – domestic abuse – to lure officers into danger.” He praised the officers for their bravery and the excellent teamwork between the PSNI, West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit, and other UK forces that led to Connor’s conviction.
“She has finally been brought to justice and is now behind bars, paying the price for her cold-blooded crime,” he said.
