Police Hunt Crook Who Stole £20,000 from 91-Year-Old Pensioner in Southsea
Police are on the lookout for a crafty thief after a staggering £20,000 was pinched from a 91-year-old pensioner in Southsea. The brazen distraction burglary happened between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Saturday, April 16, at a home in Redwing Court.
Fake Water Company Worker Tricks Pensioner
The elderly victim answered his door to a man claiming to be from the water company. The scammer insisted the water supply was contaminated and was allowed inside. The victim was led to the bathroom to “test” the water — unaware another thief slipped in behind him and made off with tens of thousands in cash.
Efit Released of Suspect
Police have now released an efit image of the prime suspect. He is described as:
- White male, aged 30s
- About 5ft 10ins tall
- Slim build with dark hair
- Spoke with a possible Irish accent
