Major Incident Team Hunts for Answers After Consulate Clash
The Major Incident Team is piecing together what turned a peaceful protest sour at the Consulate grounds last Sunday. Detectives have been sifting through CCTV, police bodycam footage, mobile videos, and witness statements to get a full picture of events between 2pm and 3pm on 16 October.
Assault and Disorder Spoil Peaceful Protest
So far, cops have identified several offences, including assaults and public order breaches. A man in his 30s was left with minor injuries after being allegedly attacked during the disturbance. A police officer who stepped in to help suffered a minor hand injury.
Offenders Still On The Run, Police Continue Hunt
No arrests have been made yet, but officers are actively searching for other possible victims and suspects linked to the unrest. Assistant Chief Constable Chris Sykes stressed the investigation’s complexity. He said:
“This is a complex inquiry that’s seeing our experienced detectives diligently exploring all avenues to bring offenders to justice. We’re building a clearer timeline of how an initially peaceful protest escalated and have identified several offences, suspects, and victims.”
“This is a sensitive but objective investigation. We will work as long as needed to speak to everyone involved and will provide updates in due course.”
