Drama on Folkestone Roads: Two Arrested and Dozens Reported in Major Traffic Crackdown
Folkestone Traffic Sweep Hits Hard
A targeted police blitz on traffic offences in Folkestone landed two men in their 40s behind bars and saw more than 20 drivers slapped with offence reports. The operation by Kent Special Constabulary took place on Tuesday, 22 October 2024, covering Sandgate Road, Park Farm, and the bustling town centre.
High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest
Officers stopped a suspicious vehicle in Middelburg Square – but the driver didn’t stick around. He bolted on foot, only to be caught shortly after by officers. Both he and his passenger, local men in their 40s, were arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply. They’ve since been bailed pending further investigations.
Traffic Fines Roll In
- 24 drivers hit with Traffic Offence Reports
- Infractions included speeding, unsafe tyres, mobile phone use, and failing to properly secure child passengers
- One vehicle seized for no tax
- Four cars with foreign licenses fined for roadside offences, including mobile phone use
Several motorists were also given advice on boosting their driving standards and vehicle safety.
Police Warn: Road Safety is No Joke
PC Kevin Marsh warned, “The consequences of collisions caused by dangerous driving and unsafe vehicles can be catastrophic for pedestrians and other road users. I urge everyone to make sure they comply with the law.”
Kent Police say they’ll keep up the pressure, continuing traffic patrols to clamp down on bad driving and keep the region’s roads safe.
