£200k Cocaine Haul Nabbed on M74
Lanarkshire cops hit the jackpot during a routine traffic stop near Lesmahagow yesterday. Nearly £200,000 worth of cocaine was seized just before 5 pm. Two men, aged 35 and 39, were swiftly arrested and will face 1 Sheriff Court on Boxing Day. A full report is on its way to the Procurator Fiscal.
Serious Organised Crime Targeted
Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Elliott praised the bust as a major win against organised crime. He said the seizure proved the grit of Scotland’s Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and Strategy in action.
“We will continue to target those intent on profiting from drugs, who give no thought to the misery it causes,” Elliott declared.
Public’s Role Crucial in the Fight
Elliott urged locals to speak up. “If you’ve got information about drug dealing in your community, don’t stay silent,” he said.
Anyone with tips can call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Elliott stressed that keeping communities safe depends on getting the public involved.
