Police Crack Down on Motorcycle Mayhem in Havant
Havant’s streets and fields have been plagued by noisy motorbikes and reckless riders, but cops have had enough. Since launching Operation Herd six months ago, police have seized three motorbikes and issued summonses to four offenders for driving without licences and safety gear. Two teenagers were slapped with fines of £45 and £50, while more cases are underway.
Teen Racers Risk Lives and Limb
The trouble hotspots? A field south of the A3(M), where teens have turned Dunsbury Hill Farm into a dangerous racetrack. Residents have complained about riders ignoring safety, speeding without helmets, and ignoring police orders to stop. Officers warn that this puts pedestrians and fellow road users in real danger.
“These bikes are a menace, seriously affecting local quality of life,” said Sergeant Garry Smith. “We’re stepping up high-visibility patrols and using Section 59 powers to seize bikes and slap fines where needed.”
Noise Nuisance and More Trouble for Riders
Havant Borough Council’s Environmental Health Team is also cracking down by handing out noise abatement notices to riders disturbing the peace. The joint effort is aimed at restoring calm and safety to the community.
