Shoplifter Locked Up and Banned from Stores Across Kent
Christopher Lamb, 42, from Faversham, has been jailed for three months and slapped with a three-year ban from several Kent stores after pleading guilty to eight counts of shop theft.
Jail Time and Tough Restrictions
The sentence was handed down at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on February 29, 2024. Along with his prison time, Lamb faces a strict Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) for three years.
The CBO bans him from entering Aldi, Co-op, and Superdrug stores anywhere in Kent. He is also banned from carrying bags into shops, loitering outside stores or cashpoints, and must instantly leave any shop if asked.
No Loitering, No Begging
On top of that, Lamb cannot approach members of the public to ask for money or charity donations.
Kent Police Crackdown on Shop Theft
The crackdown comes after a spate of thefts in Sittingbourne between February and June 2023. Kent Police’s Strategic Prevention Command pushed for the CBO to stop Lamb’s criminal behaviour.
“Shoplifting hits retailers hard and can drive up prices for everyone,” said PC Jamie Spencer. Kent Police is determined to tackle this crime. Lamb’s jail time and CBO will stop him from reoffending. If he breaks any rules, he’ll be back in court immediately.”
This tough sentence shows Kent’s law enforcement won’t hesitate to protect businesses and communities from persistent shoplifters like Lamb.
