15-Year-Old Schoolboy Daejaun Campbell Stabbed to Death in Woolwich
Tragedy on Eglinton Road
Daejaun Campbell, just 15, was found stabbed and bleeding on Eglinton Road in Woolwich on the evening of September 22. Despite rushed efforts by police and paramedics, he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Heartbreaking Tributes Pour In
Shocked locals left flowers, candles, and blue balloons at the scene. Messages included, “Daejaun, forever in our hearts,” and “I love you forever, I am so proud of you, live it up.” Friends described him as a “good guy” who was “very smart and well-behaved” and loved basketball, football, and rugby.
Two Men Arrested, Investigation Ongoing
Police have arrested two men aged 52 and 18 on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody as detectives continue their probe. The crime scene on Eglinton Road is still cordoned off.
Heroic Bystander’s Heartbreaking Account
Local resident Tasha Collins, 43, rushed to help after hearing screams. She found Daejaun face down in the street with a severe head wound and blood pooling by his leg. Daejaun pleaded, “I’m 15, don’t let me die.” Tasha reassured him, “You’re not going to die, mate.” She did her best to stop the bleeding until paramedics arrived.
School and Community Mourn
Woolwich Polytechnic School expressed devastation, saying, “All our thoughts are with the young man’s family and friends. We are here to support them during this unimaginably difficult time.”
Meanwhile, a local mother revealed her child was traumatised by the incident, refusing to return to school after witnessing the aftermath and spotting a large weapon.
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry urged the public to come forward: “We need your help to find answers the victim’s family desperately needs. Even the smallest detail might prove vital.”
