Second Suspect Charged in Battersea Murder
Jaden Richards, 19, Held Over Brutal Killing
Police have charged a second suspect in the murder of a man in Battersea. Jaden Richards, 19, from Strasburg Road, Wandsworth, was formally charged with murder on Friday evening, 31 May. He is set to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 1 June.
Victim Suffered Fatal Head Injury
Officers were called to Charlotte Despard Avenue, SW11, at 4.32pm on Saturday, 25 May. They found 46-year-old Iderval da Silva, a Brazilian national, suffering a serious head injury. Despite emergency treatment and being rushed to hospital, da Silva died three days later, on Tuesday, 28 May.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to confirm the cause of death.
Ongoing Murder Investigation
The Homicide and Major Crime Command are leading the probe. On 31 May, a 16-year-old boy appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court charged with murder. He has been remanded in custody and will face the Old Bailey on 4 June.
On the day of the attack, another 16-year-old was arrested near the scene for grievous bodily harm. He has been bailed to return in early June as police continue their enquiries.
