Serial Charity Tin Thief Slips the Net Again Despite 219 Convictions
A notorious drug addict with a shockingly long rap sheet has dodged prison once more. Sharon Randall, 50, from Somerstown, Portsmouth, has racked up over 200 convictions and just admitted stealing charity tins from Queen Alexandra Hospital not once, but twice in late April and early May.
Charity Tins Targeted Again
Randall confessed at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court to nicking Rocky Appeal charity tins on 30th April and 1st May. This comes shortly after she was found guilty of stealing another charity tin from the same hospital on 4th May.
Notorious Thief’s Long Criminal History
Her offences don’t stop there. Randall’s criminal ledger includes stealing a Macmillan charity tin from Palmerston Road plus multiple thefts and drug-related crimes. Portsmouth Magistrates have tried to curb her habits previously with a six-month supervision order and a four-month drug treatment order, after she was caught possessing crack cocaine and diamorphine.
Minimal Punishment for Serial Offender
Despite 219 convictions mostly involving theft and drugs, Randall was handed just a 28-day suspended sentence. She must also pay £125 compensation to the charity.
This leniency leaves many questioning if enough is being done to stop a serial offender exploiting charity donations.
