Bellfield Claims Responsibility for Chilling Russell Family Murders

Notorious Killer Speaks Out

Levi Bellfield, locked up for life for murdering schoolgirl Millie Dowler and two others, has dropped a bombshell. He’s revealed chilling details about the brutal Russell family murders that only the real killer could know.

Michael Stone has been twice convicted for the killing of Lin Russell and her six-year-old daughter Megan in Kent, 1996. But now Bellfield’s solicitor has unveiled a four-page statement from Bellfield claiming he carried out the horrific attacks himself.

Murder Mystery Deepens

Lin Russell and her daughters Megan, 9, and Josie, were viciously attacked while walking a quiet country lane in Chillenden. They were bound, blindfolded, and savagely bludgeoned with a claw hammer.

Stone was found guilty in 1998 and again in 2001, after his initial conviction was overturned due to witness doubts. Despite appeals and reviews—including a rejected Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) request in 2010—Stone has always maintained his innocence.

Bellfield’s New Twist

Bellfield’s statement reportedly includes fresh details such as what he wore that day and how he committed the crime. This comes as a shock in a case mired by controversy and repeated legal battles.

Currently, Bellfield is serving life for the 2002 murder of 13-year-old Millie Dowler, plus the killings of Marsha McDonnell and Amelie Delagrange, and an attempted murder of Kate Sheedy. He’s a permanent fixture behind bars, never eligible for parole.

What Happens Next?

A Crown Prosecution Service spokesperson said: “This is currently not a matter for the CPS but we stand by to assist with either a new police investigation or a CCRC referral.

The shocking claim from Bellfield now throws this notorious cold case wide open once more.
